Boston25 news anchor Vanessa Welch stunned viewers after maintaining her composure when a fly flew into her mouth during a live broadcast.

During the broadcast, a small black object that appeared to be the insect landed on Welch’s eyelash before falling down her face and into her mouth. Despite the incident, she continued with her report, briefly wincing before resuming her segment. Viewers were shocked by her professionalism, as swallowing an insect could make anyone gag.

Welch worked as a news anchor for Boston25 for eight years, and the video became viral on social media. One user @melodyraabbit said: ‘I have NEVER seen that level of professionalism DAMN,’ as reported by MetroUK. Others used gifs of lizards and other reptiles to react to the moment.

Other users believe the object was not an insect but a part of her false eyelashes, and one of the hairs must have fallen off a cluster lash.

“Looks more like she is wearing individual strip lashes (like lashify) and one of them has detached and come off while blinking.”

However, MetroUK noted that Welch was not the only anchor who swallowed an object during a live broadcast. In 2014, Sky News reporter Adam Boulton abruptly stopped being sentenced after swallowing an insect, prompting concern from the studio anchor who thought her might need a break.

He confirmed that he had swallowed a fly and carried on with his report.
