Floyd Mayweather Elected to International Boxing Hall of Fame

The champ Floyd Mayweather, who has 11 world titles in five weight divisions and is retired at 50-0 has been elected into the international boxing hall of fame. He joins Wladimir Klitschko and Laila Ali, daughter of Mohammed Ali.

The Grand Rapids, Michigan native retired in 2017 following a fight with Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor. Over the years Floyd has gained many accolades, and never had a loss. 50 wins to be exact. He reinvented boxing and his talents led to many business ventures beyond his boxing career.

“It is a great honor for me to be inducted … as a first-ballot nominee,” Mayweather said of the induction per ESPN. “Throughout my career, I gave everything I could to the sport of boxing, and now, to be recognized by one of the most prestigious honors in the sport for that hard work and dedication is very humbling.”

Over his 18-year boxing career, Floyd has truly revamped boxing and brought more attention to the sport. Some of his greatest opponents include Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel CottoSaul “Canelo” AlvarezJose Luis CastilloGenaro Hernandez, and Manny Pacquiao! Of course, there are many more!
