Florida Woman Tells Cops To “Come Get Kids” After She Strangles Them

It is no secret that there is something in the Floridian water because most odd and out-of-this-world occurrences seem to come out of the sunny state.

A Florida mom who murdered her children by strangulation called the cops and claimed the “kids were suffering and that they would suffer less if they were dead,” per the police report.

“Come get them,” she told the medics and cops on the scene about her deceased children, per the Miami Herald. “I don’t want them.”

Odette Joassaint, 41, was booked into a Miami-Dade jail on Wednesday for two counts of first-degree murder.

Joassaint told detectives that she tied her children’s arms, legs, and necks together before using a red ribbon to strangle them. The children were identified as Laural Belval, 5, and Jeffrey Belval, 3.

“She was having a mental crisis and was irate,” said Miami Police rep Michael Vega.

Police who worked the case are shaken by it and apparently, she told them that she was dealing with financial and mental issues. The troubled mom had reportedly also begged her neighbor to adopt her kids as she could not handle raising them.

The father, Frantzy Belval, told the Herald that the children lived with Joassaint full time, and they visit him on Saturdays.

“They loved me so much,” Belval said. “Every week, I buy clothes for the kids.”

This is not the first case out of Florida, and it won’t be the last, we also recently shared the shocking story about a Florida woman who was taken into custody this weekend for throwing a 4-year-old boy inside a laundry dryer and switching on the machine, according to a report.

Amber Chapman 35, was arrested on child abuse charges after the boy told detectives that his babysitter “Miss Chapman” set him inside a machine with some towels and that he “went around and around,” police said.

According to the report, the child was taken to an emergency room in February with wounding around his eyes, ears, shoulders, and lower back.

The child expressed to Lake County’s sheriff’s office that the woman opened the dryer at a certain point, but then closed it again and e continued to go around and around.

A medical report on the case noted that doctors found his wounds to be compatible with the boy’s statements.
