Last Saturday, a woman in Florida allegedly shot at a storage facility worker after being found sleeping in a storage unit. Authorities said her 16-year-old daughter was also living there.
Worker Found Two People Sleeping in a Unit
Law and Crime reported that the shooting happened around 10 a.m. at Public Storage in Palm Bay. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said an employee was making morning rounds when they found two people sleeping in a unit. Kandice Jo Pierce told the employee she should be allowed to sleep there because she was renting the unit. The employee said that if they left, she would not report them to management. As the employee walked away, she heard a loud noise and felt pain in her face.
Pierce left the scene, and the employee hid under a desk. According to the arrest affidavit, the victim called 911 and had a wound below her eye. Police identified Pierce as the suspect because her name was on the lease.
Daughter Says Mother Was Upset About Being Forced Out
Pierce’s daughter told police her mother was upset about being forced to leave the storage unit. She said she was not at the unit during the shooting but was at a nearby gas station.
Pierce was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Her court date is set for November 10.
