Florida Teachers Arrested For Smoking Marijuana With Students

Two high school teachers were arrested last week after they were caught smoking marijuana with students in their home.

James Brand and Amy O’Reilly-Brand worked at the Viera High School in Brevard County and allowed to students smoke marijuana at their house on multiple occasions since last summer. Deputies reported that the couple provided weed for the teens and smoked it with them. According to WESH, the couple is also being accused of allowing a male tenant to live in their home who had a sexual relationship with a female teen under the age of 18.

The Brevard County School District said in a statement that the couple will be placed on paid administrative leave since the investigation is ongoing. “As an organization, we are committed to thoroughly investigating any allegations of misconduct and taking appropriate steps based on the findings,” the statement also reads.

The couple was charged with child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a child. A judge placed them on a $12,500 bond but they were both released from the Brevard County Jail as of Friday night.
