Florida Sets New Record With Over 4,000 New Coronavirus Cases In Three Days
California isn’t the only state that is seeing a spike of Coronavirus cases, as Florida hit a new record with over 4000 new cases in just three days.
According to Newsweek, Florida’s Department of Health reported a new single day record for COVID-19 cases since the state reopened, with 1,495 new cases on just Friday, bringing the total number to over 61,000. 53 people also passed away.
In addition, over the past three days there have been 4,231 new cases; 1,317 on Wednesday; 1,419 on Thursday; and 1,495 on Friday.
The number of cases reported on Friday broke a new single-day record since reopening on May 18. Despite the huge spike in cases, Governor Ron DeSantis still plans to take this day into the next phase of re-opening.
Businesses “including but not limited to tattoo parlors, acupuncture establishments, tanning salons and massage establishments”–are allowed to partially reopen.
“We have an opportunity to move forward in a safe, smart, step-by-step approach,” DeSantis said during a recent press conference. He said we will “inch into Phase 2.”
New cases of the novel coronavirus are rising faster than ever worldwide, at a rate of more than 100,000 a day over a seven-day average. https://t.co/MgnDWqTzIL pic.twitter.com/I7ZC5YBWAg
