Florida Man Who Survived Alligator Bite Is Bit By 8-Foot Shark

Justin Stuller, a 38-year-old Florida man who has survived an alligator bite, was recently bitten by an 8-foot shark in the Florida Keys.

What was supposed to be a relaxing adventure with family fishing, lobstering and swimming turned into a Stuller receiving two dozen stitches and a small limp after an entanglement with an eight-foot lemon shark two weeks ago. Detailing the moment, he says, “I put (the fish) in a hole, and right before I surfaced, wham. I felt the skin more than the shark. It rolled me over and I saw it swimming away.”

Stuller says after the attack, he swam to the surface and told his family and friends to exit the water. After entering the boat, he performed first aid on himself to stop the bleeding. He says, “I tied it off and actually lost very little blood. … It was pretty deep, but no bone. I was very lucky, no tendons.” He eventually went to the hospital where he received over two dozen stitches. Fortunately, he knew how to aid himself ahead because he’d been bitten before, that time an alligator. He says, “I did get bit by an alligator and a spider and have scars.”

Concluding his story, Stuller says, “I’ve got nothing against the shark, no ill will. Right place, wrong time. I was more angry I couldn’t go in the water the next day.”
