Florida Man Loses Brutal Fight With K-9 During Burglary Arrest
Eric Tyler Mathis, a 25-year-old Florida man, recently lost a brutal fight with a K-9 during a burglary arrest in Escambia County. On Thursday (Jan. 28), a driver called police to report a man walking in and out of traffic, trying to grab his wheel and carjack him.
Once the victim drove away and made it home, he reportedly found the same suspect on his porch trying to break into his home, with his daughter inside. It’s unclear how, if it all, the the two men knew each other — but when deputies arrived, they was the Mathis hiding behind a blue tarp on the victim’s property.

When confronted by officials, Mathis shouted that it was his property and for them to leave. When trying to arrest him, Mathis was violently resistant, fighting two deputies and resisting their efforts with a taser. After that failed, they deployed K-9 Zeek, who Mathis tried to fight off, grabbing the dog by its neck, but all to no avail. Mathis lost his battle, brutally, and was taken into custody, charged with robbery, burglary, battery, resisting an officer and public order crime. Bond was set at $136,000.
