According to officials with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Jaquan Jones McCrary was apprehended on Wednesday (July 12) after they accused him of allegedly selling pills falsely labeled as ADHD (attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder) medication, but were later found to contain fentanyl. McCrary was then charged with trafficking of the dangerous synthetic opioid.

Officials with the OC Sheriff’s Department said that they picked up McCrary inside of a car that was parked in his driveway. Deputies claimed that the car was blocking the sidewalk, which prompted officers to initiate a traffic stop for the parking violation.

Per the arrest affidavit, investigators claim that the person McCrary was allegedly selling the pills to had no knowledge of them being laced with fentanyl, as they believed they were purchasing ADHD medication.

When deputies received a search warrant for McCrary’s house, they discovered five guns and large amounts of narcotics inside. The OC Sheriff’s Office said that they had been surveilling McCrary’s home ever since he was released from jail. He was serving time after threatening to shoot a pair of deputies who were conducting a traffic stop on June 23, near the intersection of Silver Star Road and Pine Hills Road.

Releasing further details on McCrary’s recent arrest and past run-in with the OC Sheriff’s Department, officials took to their official Facebook account and shared a post on Monday (July 17).

In the post, it was revealed that during the recent arrest, officials found 43-and-a-half light orange, oval tablets, weighing over 18 grams, without a bag. Deputies said that the tablets did not just belong to McCrary, but that they are linked to his alleged illicit activities.

In addition to the confiscated pills, deputies recalled the last run-in they had with McCrary, who threatened their deputies. They recalled him terrorizing law enforcement, telling them he’d shoot them, and that their protective bulletproof vests would be no match against a .223 rifle round.

Following the recent arrest of McCrary, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office also shared a PSA to the public in their Facebook post. Officials issued a warning, urging the public to remain vigilant when dealing with drug dealers.

The Sheriff’s Office warning wholly read, “BE AWARE! Drug dealers may tell you they’re selling you real medication, but their homemade pressed pills can be filled with fentanyl.” They also added a hashtag that simply read: one pill can kill.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the incident, and have not released any further details about the case at the time of publishing this article.
