A video is going viral on Twitter of a Florida high school student aggressively attacking a teacher’s aide before throwing multiple punches while she was unconscious on the ground. The disturbing incident took place at the Matanzas High School on Tuesday over what deputies say was a dispute over the 17-year-old boy’s use of his Nintendo Switch during class. He had been warned that the gaming device would be confiscated if he didn’t put it away, but the boy failed to listen and apparently didn’t think his behavior would lead to consequences.

The woman took the Nintendo Switch away from the student, prompting him to make threatening statements towards the teacher’s aide, saying that he “will beat her up every time she takes away his game. Following his arrest, police say he was heard telling the unconscious employee that “when he comes back he is going to kill her.” The woman in question suffered severe injuries from the multiple blows she took to the head after being violently pushed to the floor with blood splattered around her.

The boy, who has not been named by police, was arrested on a charge of felony aggravated battery with bodily harm. It’s also important to note that the student, according to law enforcement officials, is 6 feet and 6 inches tall and weighs about 270 pounds in comparison to the petite teacher’s aide, who was already knocked out by the very first hit. Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement, “The actions of this student are absolutely horrendous and completely uncalled for.”

“We hope the victim will be able to recover, both mentally and physically, from this incident. Thankfully, students and staff members came to the victim’s aid before the SRDs could arrive.”

The teacher’s aide, whose identity was also redacted from information made public by police, is still said to be receiving treatment, but her actual condition at this time remains unknown. What’s perhaps even more disturbing is that the assistant has been with the district for almost 20 years before starting as a paraprofessional two years ago, and throughout her time teaching teenagers, she had never encountered such a volatile attack before with a student.

Parents have since reacted to the video clip showing how the 17-year-old launched himself at the woman for taking his console, with one student’s mother named Ann Marie saying, “I feel very sorry for the teacher, the paraprofessional who was attacked. It’s just something we see all too often, these days.”
