Flo Rida Wins $82 Million Lawsuit Against Energy Drink Company Celsius After Failing To ‘Properly’ Compensate Him For His Contribution

Whew! It’s a huge day for Flo Rida who has been awarded $82 million in his lawsuit against energy drink company Celsius. Following a five-day trial, a jury sided with the “Low” rapper, whose legal team argued that Celsius had violated its agreement after failing to “properly” compensate him when he signed an endorsement deal with the company back in 2014.

During the case, Flo Rida’s attorneys argued that while Celsius had greatly benefited from its partnership with their client, the 43-year-old was allegedly left in the dark about the brand’s earnings in an attempt to withhold money that was entitled to him. On top of that, Flo Rida was also left out of stock options and additional bonuses that were promised to him when he had first signed the deal.

At the time that the two parties went into partnership, Flo Rida took a big risk, the complaint said, since he had to forfeit other deals with companies that were willing to pay him a lot of money. But on Wednesday, Flo Rida received good news: the jury had not only sided with his argument in the case but also awarded him a sum of $82 million.

“These material facts were concealed from [the] plaintiffs, which delayed the discovery of [the] defendant’s wrongdoing and deprived them of knowledge relating to their entitlement to additional royalties and shares,” the complaint stated.

Celsius had contended those claims, claiming that accusations made against their business relationship with Flo Rida were inaccurate and that the company had lawfully fulfilled its contract with the rapper.

Flo Rida’s lawyers told Billboard on Wednesday that the company’s attempt to portray their client as “greedy” ultimately ended up backfiring on them given the extensive evidence they had laid out to prove Celsius was not being truthful about its initial agreement with the Florida native.

Following the verdict, Flo Rida spoke to Law & Crime Network about his feelings about the positive outcome, saying, “It’s about my passion. It’s about my team. It’s about my dedication. It’s about something that I started years ago and just to see it come full-fledged like this, I hate for it to be this way. But… health is wealth more than anything.”
