According to Aljazeera, Garrett Rolfe is suing the mayor and interim police chief, saying his firing violated his constitutional rights and the city code. Meanwhile, prosecutors have asked a judge to revoke his bond. In the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Rolfe states in his defense that Rayshard “violently” resisted arrest before the fatal shooting — and explains, “within the scope and course of his duties” he used force. In addition to that, the ex-cop says his firing violated a law that he claims required proper investigation, notice, and a hearing before firing him.
Rolfe is currently out on bond but is facing a felony murder charge. Despite that, he’s looking to be reinstated to the police force and even wants back pay and benefits.

As we previously reported, Rolfe, who joined the Atlanta Police Department in October 2013, was fired just one day (June 13), after he shot and killed Brooks, a 27-year-old Black man, who had been sleeping in his car at Wendy’s drive-thru. The other responding officer, Devin Brosnan, was placed on administrative leave.
Rayshard’s widow, Tomika Miller, is supporting a motion from the Fulton County District Attorney asking a judge to revoke Rolfe’s bond. She says she’s hurt that Rolfe allegedly was able to take a beach vacation to Florida without permission, TMZ notes.
