Female Afghan Mayor Reveals She Expects “Taliban To Kill Her”
The people of Afghanistan are currently fearing for their safety now that the Taliban has regained control, and the first female mayor of an Afghan town has revealed that she is in fear of the Taliban coming to kill her as they impose their regime over the country.
Zarifa Ghafari, 27, is the mayor of Maidan Sharh in central Afghanistan. While speaking to iNews she said she didn’t escape the country because there is no place for her to go,
“I’m sitting here waiting for them to come. There is no one to help me or my family,” she said. “I’m just sitting with them and my husband. And they will come for people like me and kill me. I can’t leave my family. And anyway, where would I go?

“Younger people are aware of what’s happening. They have social media. They communicate. I think they will continue fighting for progress and our rights. I think there is a future for this country,” she previously revealed.
There have already been multiple attempts on her life by the Taliban, but she has managed to survive. Her dad Gen. Abdul Wasi Ghafari was killed last November.
As we reported, thousands are trying to flee Afghanistan after the Taliban’s takeover.
