FDNY Firefighter’s Five-Month-Old Daughter Dies From Coronavirus

An FDNY firefighter and his wife are currently mourning the loss of their five-month-old daughter after she passed away due to complications from the coronavirus.

According to the New York Post, FDNY officials reported Jay-Natalie La Santa passed away on Monday– shortly a week after she turned five months old. The FDNY’s Hispanic Society released a statement on their Instagram expressing their condolences to their member’s loss:

 “One of the worst experiences as a parent is to go through the loss of a child. It is with extreme sorrow to announce the passing of Jay-Natalie La Santa (5 months) daughter of our newest member to the Department and to the FDNY Hispanic Society family, Jerel and Lindsey La Santa,”

The family’s GoFundMe page says there will be a virtual memorial service after an outpouring of support from the community.  $25,000 was raised to help cover Jay-Natalie’s medical expenses.

“At first, Jerel and Lindsey were going to have an intimate service for Jay-Natalie. Because there has been such an outpouring of support they would like to extend an invitation to all for Jay’s virtual service,”
