According to the Mirror UK, Dr. Richard Johnson, the Robeson County Medical Examiner, initially classified Miller’s death as a suicide due to the nature of the wound, which consisted of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. However, he clarified that it was not in the back of the head as previously speculated. Mica’s body was found at Lumber River State Park in Orrum, North Carolina, on April 27, a few hours after her estranged husband, Pastor John Paul Miller, received the divorce papers at Market Common Church. Her sister, Sierra Francis, revealed a disturbing message that Mica left before her death, in which she allegedly said, “If I end up with a bullet in my head, it was not by me.”

Francis said Mica always lived in constant fear of violent assault from her husband, whom she was married to when she was a teenager. Their brother, Nathaniel Francis, also disclosed that Mica had found a tracking device on her car and experienced multiple occurrences of slashed tiles. There was allegedly an email confession from Pastor Miller where he admitted to damaging her car out of anger when she confided in her family and other church members instead of him.

The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and federal authorities are leading the investigation, confirming in a statement on Monday:

“Based on the information gathered during the investigation and jurisdiction reasons, the Sheriff’s Office has requested the assistance of both agencies,”

On March 11, police records revealed that Mica reported a stalking incident where she expressed fear for her life. Mechanics also found a GPS tracker on her car. Pastor Miller reportedly claimed that his wife suffered from mental health issues, including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and dependent personality disorder. He claimed that she had previously attempted suicide and had multiple hospital admissions, although these claims were not verified.

During a church sermon that went viral on social media, Pastor Miller announced Mica’s passing, stating, “I got a call late last night, my wife has passed away. It was self-induced, and it was up in North Carolina.” He also asked the congregation to send prayers to his family and not to discuss the incident with each other. He also took a break from pastoral duties and has been temporarily suspended from Solid Rock church.
