A Russian man has been released from police custody after calls from the community asked not to charge him with murder for killing his “pedophile” friend.

Vyacheslav M.,34, and his friend Oleg Sviridov,32 were drinking together when he allegedly saw a video of his eight-year-old daughter being raped by Sviridov. The father attempted to confront Sviridov about the footage but the man fled from the area. Eventually, Vyacheslav caught up to the alleged predator and fatally stabbed him multiple times.
He was arrested for Sviridov’s murder but calls from the community pleaded not to charge the father with murder. Investigators reported Sviridov’s phone contained more footage of him sexually abusing other children aged 6 to 11 in Vintai Village.

According to the Daily Mail, Sviridov’s former partner said her daughter was one of the victims in his videos. His mother added that he used to babysit Vyacheslav’s children.
‘She is a very good caring mother,’ she said. ‘I can imagine what she feels like now the truth has come out …He was constantly seen with the girls, the daughter of his partner and Vyacheslav’s older daughter, in the village. It never crossed anyone’s mind what he was doing with children.’
