Father Arrested For Leaving Baby In A Car At A Casino In 100-Degree Weather

A man is facing child abuse charges for choosing to gamble inside Nevada casino while leaving his 6-month-old son inside the car with temperatures at 100-degrees.

Mitchell Hooks, the father was arrested by North Vegas Police after his baby was rescued by authorities. Currently he is being charged with child abuse or neglect and leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle.

“Mitchell told me he shouldn’t have done what he did and that he deserved anything that was coming to him,” Officer Osvaldo Cerda-Guzman stated in his police report obtained by Fox News. “He went on to say that there was no excuse for it and no reason for it.”

Police say that a witness informed the security at the Bighorn Casino that a baby was left alone in a car crying while the vehicle was next to hers. When police approached the scene it was found that the driver side window was only rolled down four inches.

According to the body cam footage was the baby was extremely hot and the officer Guzman poured cold water on the baby to cool him off.

Guzman said his stated when he walked up on the car it was so many tears rolling down the baby’s face and he did confirm that the temperature was 100-degrees in Nevada that night.

Officers found Hooks, they asked him if he was the owner of the vehicle. He allegedly responded: “I know I’m in trouble,” according to the police report. He said the vehicle was unlocked.

“I made a mistake. I went in there and I gambled,” he allegedly said. “I came out 30 minutes later.”
