Whew! Lawyer in Fat Joe’s $20 Million Civil Case Caught Up in Wild Arrest Drama
Tyrone Blackburn, the attorney repping Fat Joe’s former hype man in that explosive $20 million civil case, just got himself caught in some legal heat of his own. According to a report from TMZ, Blackburn was arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly striking a process server with his car.
In case you missed it, this all stems from the lawsuit filed by Fat Joe’s ex-hype man— who’s claiming damages for a slew of workplace issues. Meanwhile, Fat Joe had already flipped the script earlier this year by accusing Dixon and Blackburn of extortion and defamation, and filed a separate lawsuit back in April.
Blackburn Faces Assault Charges — Fat Joe’s Team Says “It Was Deliberate”
New York police allege that the incident happened in May when Blackburn allegedly hit a process server with his vehicle, resulting in what they called a “minor injury.” Fat Joe’s legal team isn’t buying that it was an accident. “Tyrone Blackburn’s arrest comes as no surprise to me – it’s just the latest example of his malicious and manipulative pattern of misconduct finally coming to light,” said Joe’s attorney Joe Tacopina. “Blackburn is an embarrassment to the legal profession, and it’s a disgrace watching him use the court system to shield his extortion tactics.”
Tacopina didn’t hold back either, adding:
“This is exactly why Mr. Cartagena proactively sued Blackburn and his client Terrance Dixon in April because he knew they intended to try to destroy his reputation by peddling salacious lies. Today’s arrest is just the first step, but I’m confident that my client’s name will be cleared from all of these falsehoods and Blackburn will be brought to justice once and for all.”
Dixon’s Lawsuit Called “Desperate Retaliation” By Fat Joe’s Camp
Just last week, Tacopina came for Dixon’s lawsuit too, calling it “a blatant act of retaliation” and “a desperate attempt to deflect attention from the civil suit we filed first.” He claims Dixon and Blackburn were weaponizing the legal system through “lies, threats, and manufactured allegations.”
Let’s not forget—Dixon isn’t just some background character. In legal docs, he’s labeled as a former lyricist, background vocalist, security team member, and creative collaborator to Joe. That’s a lot of hats.
But Tacopina and Joe’s team ain’t backing down. They’ve been out front saying this whole thing is about money and attention, not justice. And they believe Blackburn’s arrest helps prove their point.
50 Cent Caught a Stray and Reacted in True 50 Fashion
And you know it wouldn’t be hip hop legal drama if 50 Cent didn’t find his way into the mix. He was actually mentioned in Dixon’s lawsuit—and quickly hit Instagram with his own reaction.
“These baseless accusations and claims are not credible,” 50 wrote, shutting it down real quick.
