In July 2015, Taylor, 45, first met the “When I See You” singer at a rooftop bar in North Carolina. During a July 2019 interview on ‘The Breakfast Club,’ Fantasia said they “talked all night long.”
Three weeks later, the two tied the knot in a courthouse wedding. Fantasia said, “All the things that were on my list, he was.” The list included her partner being a man who loved her, her two children, and God. After their courthouse wedding, the two had another ceremony on a yacht, according to PEOPLE.
In an Instagram post, ‘The Color Purple‘ actress shared at the time:
“This Man … God made him just for Me and me Just For Him. Be Happy with me you guys cause I’ve been thru SOOOOO much. Some stuff was my wrong decisions but all I ever really wanted was this … Real Love. This Man and this smile is real.”
As for Fantasia two children, she shares daughter Zion Quari Barrino, 22 with ex-boyfriend Brandel J. Shouse, and son Dallas Xavier Barrino, 14, with ex-boyfriend Antwaun Cook.
In July 2019, Taylor shared an emotional tribute to his wife for their fourth wedding anniversary. He wrote:
“Anniversary: Our story is still being written Queen. Today makes 5yrs and we have now found our own rhythm that’s in sync with the beat of our hearts! We got married only knowing each other by the Spirit, and while both sporting a pair of broken wings we held hands and jumped off the cliff. You trusted me to lead when no path was visible and I promised you a breathtaking view that I felt you always deserved. May your butterflies continue to disrupt any moment of complacency and my security inspire you to continue to free-fall for many years to come. I must say, ‘Taylor’ looks damn good on you Sexy!”
In May 2021, Fantasia and her “soulmate” welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Keziah Taylor, now 4. At the time, Fantasia wrote on Instagram:
“The Elephant is the animal I chose to surround @keziahlondontaylor with because it represents patience, strength, power and remembrance. Just a few of the qualities that her presence has brought into our lives and this world. We were patient waiting on you to enter this world and we will always remember the strength that it took for me and @salute1st to create something as powerful as your life itself. Happy Birthday to our little Angel 5-23-21 and may God keep and cover you for the rest of your days!”
Joining his wife, Taylor shared his own post and wrote:
“Today I experienced something that rewrote my personal definition of a Black Woman. To observe my Queen @tasiasword bring my little Angel @keziahlondontaylor into this world elevated my understanding and sense of pride, respect and admiration for black women. ‘Yahweh, please empower me to lead and protect my wife and children with the highest level of wisdom, power and discipline that I have to capacity to receive!’ Happy Birthday to my little Kezzy Bear! #Salute1st.”
In April 2022, the couple published a relationship book together. It’s titled, ’No Crowns in the Castle: Building a Strong Relationship and a Harmonious Life.’ A description of the book said the couple discusses “what a Godly marriage looks like and encourage readers with faith-forward and Biblical relationship advice.”
Fast forward to February 14, 2026, when Taylor proposed again to his wife of 11 years. During the singer’s V-Day concert in Houston, Texas, Taylor walked onto the stage and gave an emotional speech, before getting down on one knee and proposing to Fantasia, leaving her in tears. Taylor gave his wifey an 11-carat diamond ring — he told her one carat for every year of marriage together. During his speech, Taylor first told the crowd:
“Salute. Salute. How you doing everybody? I gotta make something right. If you could just give me a moment. For eleven years, many anniversaries, many birthdays—don’t make me cry, I gotta be quick—and many Valentine’s, I share my angel with you. So, give me some grace and share my wife [back with me]. Just for a minute. Just for a minute.”
Taylor then faced his wife and said:
“Hallelujah. God has been so good in our lives. We fought through so much. We prayed through so much. We fasted through so much. We’re about to walk into a brand new home. But, I can’t walk into a home with you. I gotta make something right. And all the beauty that we’ve experienced over the years, we got a blind spot.
In 2014, we sat and we had a conversation, after three weeks of knowing each other. And we said, ‘What if we get married?’ And we did it. […] We did it. […] But the one thing that’s missing in our life, is we talked about it, we did it. But I didn’t properly propose. One thing that I’ve learned as a man is that a good woman desires a public proposal, but a Godly woman, she deserves one.
For 11 years, you woke up every morning and you chose me. For 11 years, you’ve been an incredible mother to our children. For 11 years, we fast and we prayed. So, I’mma give you a carat for every year that you stayed by my side.”
As Fantasia took off her previous wedding ring, her husband boasted, “You don’t need that no more. I love you.” Taking to Instagram, the singer shared the clip of her new proposal and captioned the post, “Love still exist 😢. I promise! But ABBA [Aramaic term for “father,” “God”] has to lead it…”
