6ix9ine uploaded the video earlier today with the following caption: “100,000 comments if you want this 🧡❤️💚💛💜💙🖤🤍LOCKED UP PART 2 IM ON ALBUM MODE 💿💿💿 THIS ALBUM GOING CRAZYYYYYYY 🔥🔥🔥 @akon” The short snippet plays his verse where 6ix9ine discusses his time in prison along with wanting to see his daughter again. But his fans and others were not too keen on the pairing due to the political climate in the country.
A Twitter user under the handle @ProdiLemaj said: “Akon has made some timeless music as well as doing some remarkable work for Africa, and nothing will take away from that. That being said, this definitely comes off as a desperate attempt to regain relevancy, and 6ix9ine is ruining the f*ck out this song” while others commented on 6ix9ine’s hairstyle. One fan on the rapper’s Instagram page said “Why you keep playing in Jade’s wigs tho? 👀” in reference to his girlfriend Jade but others continued to express their disdain for the remix.

I’m not a fan of @6ix9ine, not because he is a snitch snake but i don’t like his songs. Then @Akon Coming out of retirement to do this, Let’s keep the hatred aside, I think he did this cause he understands and knows how it feels being locked up. Let’s look at it from his angle. https://t.co/i0ZnmCHI1l
