Andie Coston detailed her family’s vacation updates on TikTok and explained that they were initially to travel to Disney in 2020, but it was postponed due to the pandemic. However, she explained to PEOPLE that her parents were in charge of getting gift cards for the vacation so they could purchase park tickets and restaurant reservations.

“I went home this weekend, and they were having problems loading the gift cards correctly and purchasing the tickets,” she said. Coston later realized that the gift cards were for the streaming service Disney Plus, not the theme park. She added that the theme park tickets were selling out because of Christmas, and they were leaving in six days.

Coston said it was an honest mistake made by her parents because they didn’t use streaming services and didn’t know the difference. However, they couldn’t receive a refund because the numbers were already scratched off in the back. After the video went viral, several other TikTokers shared a similar experience due to the confusion. Disney also reached out to the family after seeing the video and was able to switch the $10,000 of Disney Plus cards to theme park gift cards.

“I received many messages and comments from people telling me that they or someone they know have had similar experiences. I hope that this story makes more people aware of the card difference so no one else experiences this,” she explained to the outlet.

The video went viral on Twitter and some users even questioned why didn’t any store clerks try to stop Colston’s parents when they purchased so many gift cards.
