Family Of Nine Dies After Consuming Toxic Noodles
A familty of nine in China died after consuming toxic noodles that had been forzen in the freezer for over a year.
The Independent reports that the family from Heilongjiang ate the corn noodles on October 5. However, just hours ago they fell seriosuly ill. Unfortunately, by October 11, eight of them were dead and the ninth member was hospitalized and died on Monday.
Coroners reported te cause of death as poisoning from Bongkrekic acid, which is a respiratory toxin found in the noodles. The poisoning is reported to be fatal.

Gao Fei, the director of food safety at the Heilongjiang Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said,
“It can cause serious damage to many human organs including the liver, kidneys, heart, and brain. Currently, there is no specific antidote. Once poisoned, the fatality rate can be as high as 40 to 100 percent.”
The National Health Commission disseminated a warning to avoid eating fermented rice and flour,
“Using fresh and unspoiled food materials and frequently changing water when making food can reduce the risk of contamination, but it is best to avoid making and ingesting foods made of fermented grain entirely for safety concerns,” the advisory said.
