A Washington woman is stunned after discovering that her sperm donor lied about his identity and medical history.

Six years ago, the woman was a client at Cryo LLC where she considered using the sperm listed under file number “518”. His profile reads that he has a history of medical issues and a rough upbringing so she decided to go with number “901A” instead. The donor had no known medical issues and he had a normal childhood.
Earlier this week, the woman received an email from NW Cryobank stating that the two profiles belonged to the same person after they acquired the documents and specimens from Cryo LLC.
“If I would have seen donor 518’s profile I would have never have picked him. I really feel like we were deceived, in a way it almost feels like death by deception, instead of it being deceiving the parents, you’re deceiving all the potential offspring of this man,”

The discovery comes after another woman had a DNA test performed on their child and discovered their half-sibling’s DNA belonged to “518.” When he became ineligible to donate sperm in 2009, the donor used his friend’s driver’s license and was given the “901A” identity.
The woman also said her son is a hemophiliac and several of the donor’s children has various issues. He has fathered children in Idaho, Montana, and Washington.
“I was a victim of childhood rape, so I take this harshly saying this, it was almost like we were medically raped in this situation because we chose something, we purchased something, we were supposed to get that donor, and yet we don’t know who really was inside of us,”
Several mothers have filed a federal and lawsuit against the sperm bank along with wanting the real identity of their children’s father so they can learn more about his medical history.
