The incident occurred last month at the Loose Caboose restaurant where 3-year-old Ronin Waldroup and her family entered the establishment when the dog bit her in the face and ripped her cheek open. Ronin’s parents said Kingston’s owner, Jennifer Romano, fled the scene.
During a court hearing last week, a judge ruled for the dog to be euthanized after a similar incident that occurred in June 2020 was revealed. The family says they are against the euthanization of animals but Kingston’s case proved that Romano did not provide the proper training to prevent more incidents.“But this dog has had previous bite cases before, and [the dog’s owner] has continued to put a service dog vest on it and continued, not to just take it on walks unmuzzled, but to take it in mass groups of people like restaurants and stores. So regardless of its history, she’s not taking preventative action to protect the public, and so, in this case, the family does want the dog euthanized for the safety of the community,” said family spokesperson Kaydin Downey.

Romano did not oppose the judge’s ruling and the family plans to file a civil suit against her due to Ronin’s injuries.
