Monica Davis built her clientele by promoting her business, The Veneer Experts, on social media platforms such as TikTok and performing procedures such as braces. According to CBS News, Monica Bailey went to Davis’ office with her daughter to install braces, and the procedure seemed standard until she had some doubts. Bailey attempted to schedule a follow-up appointment but discovered that the contact numbers were disconnected, and no one responded. It was later found that Davis had no active registration on the state dental board.
Ralph Jones also underwent a veneer procedure after being attracted to the $2,000 price, but his veneers quickly deteriorated, with one chipping short after installation. The situation escalated when it was discovered that Davis had also been operating in Las Vegas without a license, leading to her arrest. Despite this, she continued her practice in Illinois, where Bailey and her daughter received braces just days after Davis was released on bail in Nevada.

Dr. Laura Zalay questioned the legitimacy of the dental work when she examined Bailey’s braces and noted that while the braces appeared genuine, they were considered non-functional since they didn’t connect properly. She also stated that the long term damage cause by poor oral hygiene which worsened after the botched braces installments.
“They look like real braces, but they don’t connect to anything in the back and so there’s no way to move the teeth,”
The business was eventually forced to vacate their Schaumburg office following numerous complaints, leaving many patients like Bailey and Jones disillusioned and facing financial burdens to correct the substandard work they had received.
