While appearing on the Marriage or Mirage podcast, Faith Evans looked back on the time she had with her late husband, Biggie Smalls.
The iconic rapper behind “Hypnotize” and “Big Poppa” tragically died in 1997 at the age of 24 after being gunned down. Although it’s been over two decades since his passing, the singer still thinks of him today.
Co-host Charmaine Bey asked the 50-year-old songstress “What did you love about Biggie?” Evans replied, “Everything. I loved everything about him. He was honest. You understand? One thing about him, even at that young age… honest!” Evans went on to recall a time when she would ask Biggie if he f***ed up and admitted it rather than lie. Big was “honest as f*ck,” she said before adding, “Most of the time I didn’t know what was going on but when I did and I asked him and he told the truth.”

More On Biggie Smalls And Faith Evans
The Notorious B.I.G. first met Faith Evans in 1994 on the set of a photoshoot for Bad Boy Records. She gave the rapper a ride home after the shoot and he eventually called her. The rest was history from there. However, the couple who was considered hip-hop’s hottest power couple and “hip-hop royalty” had their relationship hit a couple of bumpy roads due to Biggie’s secret affairs that eventually became public.
Despite the tough times, the couple who share a son together, were able to remain good friends. In an old interview with Vibe magazine Biggie admitted; “I married her after knowing her eight days and I was happy. That was my baby. At the same time, with us being so spontaneous, we did it backwards. Maybe she won’t admit it, but I will. We should have got to know each other and then got married. The relationship kind of dissolved, but we’re still going to be friends.”
In a 2022 interview with PEOPLE, Faith also spoke about the “loving Notorious BIG.” Evans who remarried and had two sons, Josh, and Ryder, in addition to C.J. and Chyna — her firstborn whom she shares with Kiyamma Griffin — said, “I remember B.I.G. every day.”
“I walk down my stairs and there’s a portrait that someone gave me of him up in the top of the foyer. B.I.G. is a huge part of this house,” she said at the time. “He’s one of the reasons that I am able to be here, to be quite honest, and live here, and my son.”
