Fabolous Says Beyoncé Approached Him About A Lyric Mentioning Solange

During an interview with the Breakfast Club, rapper Fabolous said that a rap verse he wrote about Solange caused Beyoncé to confront him about its context.

According to E! , The lyric is found on the’ 2010 song “For The Money” featuring Nicki Minaj from his mixtape “The Funeral Service(There I No Competition). In the song, the rapper says, “If you could have Beyoncé, would you take Solange?” Fabolous mentioned during his interview that he spotted Bey at a party when she approached him about the lyric:

“The first person I saw was Bey, and Beyonce was like ‘Yo, let me holler at you. She was just telling me that they rock with me. And I really didn’t even think when I was saying it.”

He added that he didn’t expect Beyoncé to approach him about the lyric and think about the bigger picture:

“Punch line-y style is just to say something to be catchy and metaphoric, but I didn’t see the deeper side of it. And Beyoncé, I ain’t gonna share the exact conversation, but she told me this is people. Saying something like that can personally hurt her. And I said, ‘You know what? I get it. Yo, when I see Solange, I’ll apologize to her.'”
