As it was previously reported, the former “Real Housewives of Atlanta@ star filed for divorce from Sterling, who she married in October 2018, at the Superior Court of Fulton County on March 29. She stated that they are “currently living in a bona fide state of separation,” per Marcille’s complaint.
“This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but sometimes life takes your journey in a direction you were not expecting,” Marcille told PEOPLE exclusively. “Our children remain our biggest priority and the eight and half years we have spent together will always be cherished. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”
In a statement to Page Six, Sterling via attorney said at the time, “I am not going to lose my wife. I am going to fight for her with every fiber in my being. I love her and I plan to show her how much I love her and that our love is strong enough to get to the other side.” He added, “I am not going to lose my wife. I am going to win her back.”
The former couple share three children: son 4-year-old Michael Sterling, Jr., whom they welcomed back in 2018 and Maverick Sterling, 3. Sterling is also a father figure to Marcille’s eldest daughter Marley Rae from her previous relationship with ex Kevin McCall.
Per the outlet, Marcille has reportedly requested child support and primary custody of all the kids. In 2020, Eva actually decided to change Marley’s last name to Sterling’s as he raised her as his own. In addition to that, she wants the court to award her “equitable division” of the assets and debt that she and Sterling have garnered during their four year marriage. She is also asking for her own separate property.
More RHOA Stars Who Have Filed For Divorce This Year
The news of Marcille and Sterling’s split comes a month after news broke about Drew Sidora Ralph Pittman who also decided to end their marriage.
In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE, Pittman said of their 8-year marriage, “Love is a beautiful thing but unfortunately we have made the difficult decision to move on to our next chapters, independent of each other. Drew and I have decided to file for divorce. We have three amazing young children, and their mindset and growth is what is most important. As we navigate this difficult time, I ask that you please respect our privacy.”
Sidora also shared her own statement: “After eight years of wholeheartedly fighting for my marriage, I have made the agonizing decision to release my husband with love. Although Ralph and I have decided to move forward separately, the hope is to remain friends so that we can co-parent responsibly. In spite of our very public life, I am asking for privacy during this difficult time as my children and I learn how to navigate through our new beginnings.”
Ultimately, Sidora claimed her soon-to-be ex-husband, cheated on her and “mentally abused” her in their recent divorce filings.
