Erika Kirk is speaking out after being seen crying as she was escorted out of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner following a shooting incident in Washington, D.C.

On Monday, April 27, the Turning Point USA CEO, 37, addressed the situation on X, saying “Saturday was yet another traumatic example of the evil in our country and the continued rise in political violence,” the Turning Point USA CEO, 37, posted on X on Monday, April 27. “I’m taking time to spend with my family.”

She also added that she will fully address this during her upcoming show, adding “Enough is enough.”

What actually happened

As we previously reported, the incident unfolded Saturday, April 25, at the Washington D.C. Hilton during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. According to authorities, a 31-year-old man, Cole Tomas Allen, allegedly rushed a security checkpoint at the event. Law enforcement responded, an exchange of gunfire followed, and Allen was taken into custody. Officials confirmed no one was seriously injured.

Still, it was enough to turn a formal political-media dinner into a full-on security situation in seconds.

While everything was unfolding, a video began circulating online showing Erika Kirk being escorted out of the venue in tears. In the clip, she says, “I just want to go home.”

Erika Kirk’s response also carries added weight because of her personal history. Her husband, Charlie Kirk, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University in September.

Kirk says she’s stepping back to be with family and will address the situation later this week.
