Damon says he has developed an “addiction” due to consistently searching through dating apps and websites, even during his bathroom breaks. According to the Daily Mail, he spends about four hours on the platforms daily but feels that there aren’t any outcomes due to deceitful profiles and dishonest conversations. He said he has encountered women who have asked him for money or used “catfishing” photos.

“It makes you really suspicious of people. I keep them engaged. I had one who wanted to meet up but kept asking for me to send her money. Another sent absolutely gorgeous photos but I did a photo search on Google and found out she was using a photo of an American porn star. They say there is someone out there for everyone. You think you’re chatting to a gorgeous girl and they are a bloke from Ukraine,” he explained.

While also being in between jobs, Damon said his real-life encounters haven’t been better, as there was one instance where a woman tripped and broke her nose during their date. Other dates discouraged him, and women told him they did not see a romantic future with him. He also joined community groups for singles and engaged in social activities such as meeting in bars organized through the app Meetup.

Damon met his ex-wife on the social media site Friends United, but the lockdown strained their relationship and led them to call it quits in 2022 after 12 years of marriage.

“I want someone who likes socialising, going for meals and walks and travelling – that’s a big thing for me. I’m reliable, local and I think I’m quite funny.”

However, his current phase of life, marked by both his search for love and employment, demonstrates the complex challenges and emotional toll involved in seeking meaningful relationships through digital means.
