After performing “Lose Yourself”, Eminem took a knee as the performance transitioned to Kendrick Lamar’s song “”M.A.A.D City.” It was reported earlier that Eminem was apparently told not to kneel during his half time performance after he told officials that he wanted to pay tribute to Colin Kaepernick.

Additionally, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar were also told not to make any political statements during their performances. Dr. Dre was reportedly upset over their rules and felt he was “disgustingly censored” by officials. However, reps for the NFL have denied that there was controversy surrounding the halftime show.
