Always keeping it real: Fashion designer Kimora Lee Simmons has finally addressed the controversial PDA pictures of her daughter Aoki Lee Simmons with Vittorio Assad and she didn’t hold back!
In a recent interview with TMZ’s @seleahsimone Simmons, 49, admitted feeling “a little bit embarrassed” when her 21-year-old daughter’s vacation in St. Bart’s went viral. However, Simmons handled the situation with grace and support. She told Aoki that “it is what it is” and encouraged her to come back home, but without Assad… the 65-year-old restaurateur she was all smooched up with in paparazzi pics. “Mama’s got your back,” Simmons assured her daughter, hinting that she believes Aoki may have been “set up a little bit” due to their age difference.
Simmons also clarified that Aoki and Assad were not in a romantic relationship. The Baby Phat designer went on to note that Aoki is a young and attractive girl, and they didn’t expect their innocent interactions to be blown out of proportion. “I think we don’t think the toads that we may kiss are going to be broadcast as a thing.”
Meanwhile, Russell Simmons, Aoki’s father and music executive, defended his daughter and expressed his support on social media. He encouraged her to reach out to him “anytime.

So how is Aoki’s relationship with her dad? Well, Contrary to rumors, Kimora — who was married to Russell from 1998 to 2009 and have another daughter together, Ming Lee Simmons, who is 24 years old — stated that Russell’s relationship with Aoki is basically “nonexistent.” She also clarified that she handles Aoki’s allowance and there have been no recent changes in the amount.
