Elton John Reveals Zoom AA Anonymous Meetings Have Saved His Life During Pandemic

The legendary Elton John isn’t shy about opening up about being a reocvering alcoholic and has admitted that Zoom Alcoholic’s Anonymous meetings have been a lifesaver during the pandemic.

On Tuesday’s episode of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s  Spotify podcast, “Archewell Audio,” the 73-year-old star who has been 30-years sober, spoke up about being a recovering alcoholic during the pandemic, a time where many of us are in need of a drink or two.

“I’m a recovering alcoholic so I have an AA meeting from this house every Sunday,” John said.. “I connect with my friends who I’ve known for over 30 years in the program, and that’s great.”

“If it hadn’t have been for Zoom, I don’t know what we would’ve done, I really don’t, without Zoom,” he added. “It’s been a lifesaver.”

Back in July John celebrated his 30-year sobriety with a post to social media.

“Reflecting on the most magical day having celebrated my 30th Sobriety Birthday,” he wrote. So many lovely cards, flowers, and chips from my sons, David, friends in the Program, the staff at the office and in our homes.”

“I’m truly a blessed man,” he added. “If I hadn’t finally taken the big step of asking for help 30 years ago, I’d be dead.”
