Elon Musk Surpasses Mark Zuckerberg To Become World’s Third Richest Man

While we reported last week that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, 56, has officially become the world’s first $200 billion man, Tesla founder Elon Musk, 49, also sets a new record for himself by surpassing Facebook co-creator Mark Zuckerberg, 36, to become the world’s third richest man.

Per Bloomberg, Musk is now the third richest man in the world, sitting at a cool $115.4 billion as Zuckerberg’s net work racks up to $110.8 billion. Musk’s new net worth arrives after Tesla’s 5-1 stock split; meaning that on the shares was split into five with no change to the total value of investors’ holdings. Simultaneously, the company’s share price was lowered so that smaller, individual investors can be reached — which led to the flood of people buying into the company.

In addition to Musk hitting a new goal, Bezos’ ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, 50, who walked away from the marriage with a 4% stake in Amazon.com Inc., became the world’s richest woman, surpassing L’Oreal SA heiress Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, 67. Scott is now worth a pretty $66.4 billion.
