The Fallout Between Elon Musk and Trump Just Went Nuclear

The tension between Donald Trump and Elon Musk just exploded — and it’s playing out on social media like the real-life version of a power struggle between two titans. In a wild exchange of jabs, shade, and serious threats, Musk dropped the mic claiming Trump wouldn’t have won the election without him. And Trump? He clapped back hard — hinting he might cut every federal coin flowing into Elon’s businesses.

Elon Musk Leaving Donald Trump Administration, Says His ‘Scheduled Time’ In White House Under DOGE Has ‘Come To An End’

As the showdown between the president and Elon Musk heated up today, Trump didn’t hold back, taking to Truth Social to lay into the Tesla CEO and even hinted at severing government ties with Musk’s ventures.

“Elon was ‘wearing thin,’ I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!,” Trump posted.
In another post, he claimed, “The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it!”

Musk Fires Back: “Without Me, Trump Would’ve Lost”

WASHINGTON (AP) — The breakup between the president of the United States and the world’s richest man is unfurling much like their relationship started — rapidly, intensely and very publicly.

While Trump was sitting with Germany’s leader in the Oval Office, he had more to get off his chest. He claimed he was “very disappointed” with Musk — who once rode hard for Trump but now treats him like just another washed-up politician.

“Whatever,” Musk wrote on his social media platform while responding to Trump in real time.
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election,” Musk retorted. “Such ingratitude,” Musk said in a follow-up post.
The two once had the tightest bromance in tech and politics. Musk wasn’t just cutting checks — he dropped at least $250 million backing Trump’s campaign. He also sat in on Cabinet meetings and even rocked MAGA hats like they were fashion statements.

From Ally to Adversary: A Timeline of Billionaire Beef

Let’s rewind. Elon wasn’t always throwing digital hands at Trump. In fact, their friendship caught fire after Trump survived a near-assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally in July. Not long after, Musk announced a full-blown political action committee in support of Trump’s return to office.

The bromance was real. Musk hopped on Air Force One. He was posted up at Mar-a-Lago. He even slept in the Lincoln Bedroom — like it was just another stop on his tech empire tour.

Their relationship wasn’t just optics, though. Trump gave Musk access to deep levels of federal power through the Department of Government Efficiency. Musk was slicing budgets and streamlining like a man with no leash.

But just like that, it’s war.
