Ellen DeGeneres is being criticized via social media after it was revealed she is “one of the meanest people alive by fans and former employees.
According to the Daily Mail, comedian Kevin T.Porter started the backlash on Friday when he asked his followers to send him the craziest stories about the popular talk show host. The tweet was created in order to help raise money for the Los Angeles Food Bank. After the post, several Twitter users who met or worked with DeGeneres revealed their experiences with her. One user said she was “one of the meanest people alive” and stated she was rude to former head writer Karen Kilgriff.

Another user stated that their friend worked for DeGeneres for two years and said she was never acknowledged by her. An employee of Real Food Daily sais she served DeGeneres and her wife, Portia De Rossi, and received a complaint from the couple:
“I worked @RealFoodDaily, served her & Porsha at brunch. She wrote a letter to the owner & complained about the chipped nail polish(not that it was on her plate but just that it was on my hand). I had worked until closing the night before & this was next morn, almost got me fired.”
Another writer, Benjamin Siemon, added that the comedienne had a ‘sensitive nose’ and was very nitpicking about certain workers:
‘Everyone must chew gum from a bowl outside her office before talking to her and if she thinks you smell that day you have to go home and shower,’
Several others said the comedienne has had temper tantrums, especially with restaurant employees. There was also a time when she allegedly became upset when comedian Russell Brand spoke to her staff before a show taping.
“Brand came into the employee break area to chat with the crew and hang out, but then ‘Ellen came in and got mad at him.’
