El Chapo’s Wife Pleads Guilty To Drug Trafficking

El Chapo’s wife Emma Coronel Aispuro appeared in federal district court Thursday in Washington D.C. and pled guilty to 3 charges, including money laundering and conspiracy to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana, TMZ reports.

Just like her hubby, Emma could receive a maximum sentence of life in prison. To note, the drug trafficking charge alone carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years behind bars, according to the judge.

As it was previously reported, El Chapo’s wife was busted at Dulles International Airport back in February. She was hit with several charges including conspiracy to distribute 5 kilos or more of cocaine, 1 kilo of heroin, 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, and 1,000 kilos or more of marijuana for importation into the U.S. Meanwhile, her hubby is rotting in prison as part of his life sentence so they may never see each other again.

Her attorney, Jeffrey Lichtman, said Coronel’s “happy to put this behind her” and hopes the judge will view her a “minimal participant” in the organization at sentencing and give her a single-digit sentence, the New York Post quotes.
