Eight Injured And Two Dead After Deadly Shooting In Virginia Beach

A deadly shooting that took place in Virginia Beach late Friday evening left eight people injured and two dead near the oceanfront.

The Virginia Beach Police Department said in a statement that the shooting mainly took place on Atlantic Avenue and one person was fatally shot at 20th Street and Pacific Avenue. According to the New York Post, one officer was hit by a car during the shooting and transported to a nearby hospital. In the aftermath of the shooting, officers said they had several suspects in custody and one of the shooters was killed due to “police intervention.”

Police Chief Paul Neudigate called the shooting a “chaotic incident” and said there will be a lot of work ahead for the department due to the numerous crime scenes that took place last night.

The investigation is currently ongoing and the cause for the multiple shootings is currently unknown.
