Shoppers and employees at the mall took cover after hearing multiple gunshots around 3 p.m. The eight people who were injured in the shooting were transported to the Froedtert Hospital and no fatalities have been reported. Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride said in a statement to ABC News that the shooter is currently at large and there are 75 police officers at the scene.
“Multiple injured victims have and are being transported from the north end of the Macy’s Department Store. None of the victims’ injuries appear to be life-threatening. The perpetrator is “at-large” at this time. There are approximately 75 police officers on scene at the time.”

Mayor McBride also noted that they will provide more information when it becomes available but so far there are no leads. Witness Cecilia Guerrero told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that she took cover at an Aerie store with her sister, another family, and store employees.
“I was very nervous at the beginning when we didn’t know what was going on. But now that I’m safe and no one can get in, I’m OK. But it was very freaky and there was some panic.”
We will continue to provide updates as more details are developed.
