The singer took to Instagram on Tuesday morning to share the exciting news. He posted a picture of his daughter’s cute little socks along with the caption that read: “Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you… Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.” He added, “We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x”
This is the first child for both Sheeran, 28, and Seaborn, 28, who have known each other since childhood and attended high school together, USA Today notes. Fans quickly took to the comment section to congratulate the new parents. On said, “Crying Lyra is the perfect name. I am so happy omg.” One curious fan asked, “Was she left with your hair or her mother’s eyes? 😍❤️”
Sheeran revealed the couple’s engagement on Instagram in 2018 and, after years of keeping his love life under wraps, he announced through song last year that he and Seaborn had secretly tied the knot. The two haven’t shared a snap of sweet baby girl yet but we’re sure they will when they are ready.
