A mom revealed on TikTok that she reuses old Christmas pajamas as an alternative to toilet paper and a way to save money.

Ali, also known as @tiny waste, made a video explaining how her family practices zero waste at home. Her bathroom has no paper towels, and she showed her followers a bidet attachment on the toilet and a stack of cloths and wipes. The cloth is referred to as a “family cloth,” and it is made from old Christmas flannel pajamas. However, she explained that she does not use the same cloth twice, as reported by the Daily Mail.
‘When I use the bathroom, I let the bidet do all the heavy lifting, pat dry with a clean wipe, and then put the used wipe in this bin, which will eventually go into the laundry. No wipe is ever used for multiple bathroom sessions without being laundered. That would be disgusting.’

She further explained that she likes cloth toilet paper because ‘it’s sturdier and softer on my bum.’ However, TikTok users were still confused about the reusable toilet paper process; some thought using cloth was gross. “how some people think a dry piece of thin paper cleans better than a bidet, I will never understand,” one commentator wrote. Other users said they like the benefits of the family cloth and will never return to using toilet paper due to its sustainability benefits.
“I grew up on the bidet, swear by it. Yall not using bidet in 2023 r just uncivilized”
“how people think feces flying everywhere is better than wiping I’ll never understand”

Some defended using a bidet, but a user from Italy said it shouldn’t be considered an alternative to toilet paper.
“Guysssss, an Italian here, the bidet is NOT a substitute of toilet paper!! It’s the second step to clean yourself”
“Have you ever wiped after a bidet? There still a little leftover. Obvi it’s much faster to clean with a bidet, but I still use TP for one or two wipes.”
Ali also mentioned that the soft cloth had benefited her as she developed hemorrhoids after giving birth to her child. ‘Since giving birth, my hemorrhoids really appreciate the extra softness,’ she explained.
Family cloth is an alternative to toilet paper, and it can be made from shirts or purchased cloth wipes. They are mostly used for periods and pooping but sold on sites such as Etsy or other third-party marketing places. Life Hacker said in a report that the only downside to the cloth wipes is storing an extra hamper in the bathroom, and guests should never use the cloths.
“You have to keep a sealed hamper, and you have to do more laundry. Cloth users argue that it’s really not a big deal, that it’s no worse than dealing with dirty underwear, as if dealing with dirty underwear isn’t already bad. They insist that the practice is hygienic, that the wipes don’t smell much, that it’s all not a big deal really. Okay.”
