On March 7, TMZ reports that Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union attended the runway show for the brand, helmed by Miuccia Prada, to support their 15-year-old daughter’s appearance in the presentation. Zaya fiercely seized her moment on the catwalk as she walked in a striking wool look that featured an oversized blazer with notched lapels, a matching midi skirt and a corresponding knitwear sweater. Key details adding the finishing touches to Zaya’s look included a brown leather handbag and a pair of low-stacked, pointed-toe heels with adjustable strap closures.

Both Wade and Union sat in the front row of the show, along with the likes of stars such as actress Jessica Alba and comedian Ziwe. The Miami Heat legend captured the entire moment on his social media accounts, where he reiterated how supportive he is of his transgender daughter’s journey. In a reel he shared on Instagram capturing their experience at the event, Wade firmly declares “She’s arrived,” in regards to Zaya’s runway debut. The 41-year-old continued to celebrate his daughter on his IG Story by sharing multiple videos and photos — including a shot with Zaya and Union’s stylist Thomas Christos with a note that read “we cried.” In another post on his story, Wade and Zaya shared a tender moment as they embraced each other before posing for a selfie. He also reposted a reel from Vogue Magazine on his story featuring Zaya with the caption, “I’m not crying, you are.”

In a family photo the NBA champion shared on Twitter following the event, Wade gave his daughter her flowers for her runway debut with Miu Miu by quoting lyrics from the single “Icon,” which is one of Jaden Smith’s most popular songs.

“Just an icon living. Zaya’s @MIUMIUofficial debut,” Wade wrote in the tweet.

Also, in the comment section of Zaya’s post commemorating the event, Wade told his daughter he was “proud,” to watch her growth right before his own eyes. “To witness your grace is something @zayawade Iam Proud of you❤️,” Wade wrote in his comment.

The support was an all-around family affair, as Union retweeted tweets from Zaya’s uncle, Essence’s fashion editor Shelton Boyd-Griffith, showering the 15-year-old with praise.

“My niece Zaya, walking Miu Miu today!,” Boyd-Griffith wrote before adding, “Mark my words SHE IS NEXT UP!! I’m all for the Black nepo babies taking over.”

Zaya’s runway debut follows her recent legal victory after a Los Angeles county judge granted her legal petition for a name and gender change last month. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, her new name is Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade and she is set to be issued a new birth certificate recognizing her new name and gender.
