Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’ left his mother, Ata Johnson, stunned after surprising her with a brand new home this week. The former wrestler-turned-actor took to his Instagram over the weekend to share a video of his mom’s reaction upon finding out he had bought her a house, further mentioning in his caption that while he’s purchased multiple properties for her in the past, after having spent most of her years traveling, she hopes to make this her last move.
“Love you mom and surprise!” the Rampage actor wrote. “When I was a little boy, I hated when my mom would cry ~ these days, I’ll happily take her tears of joy. I surprised my mom and bought her a new home. Took me and my design team 8 weeks to get it ready, where she could walk thru her front door for the very first time and everything she saw was brand new and a total surprise.”

The 50-year-old explained how his mother had been traveling for “a lifetime,” and though she has had the pleasure of living in several homes bought by her son, she stressed that her newest property would more than likely be her last. “Mom, there’s no greater feeling than to make you happy ~ welcome home 🏠❤️🌺. I always say, if you got a good mom then you got a shot at becoming a good, caring human being. Let’s all give our mamas a big grateful squeeze this weekend and make ‘em happy.”
The endearing and kind gesture from Dwayne comes just one week after his 20-year-old daughter Simone Johnson hopped onto her Twitter to officially announce her pro-wrestling name ahead of her WWE debut later this year. Simone was signed to the firm back in 2020, but due to the pandemic and later needing surgery, her first appearance was set back by two years.
But from what’s been gathered, she has been training excessively in Florida, with her Twitter name now reading “Ava Raine,” which is the stage name she will use as she gears up for her wrestling career. She had previously taken to social media to slam critics who said her opportunity to become a pro-wrestler was solely due to her being the daughter of one of the biggest former WWE stars.

Simone hit back at the comments, saying she was determined to make a name for herself in a sport she’s passionate about, further indicating she doesn’t want to rely on her father or his connections to get ahead. “I probably sound like a broken record & hopefully, this is the last I’ll mention this but I don’t understand why people being portrayed as separate individuals from their family name is such a heated topic. A name doesn’t discredit any prior accomplishments from any family.”
