Duke Blue Devils standout Jared McCain is making waves both on and off the court, recently securing a lucrative deal with nail polish company Sally Hansen through the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiative.
Despite the ongoing debate surrounding men wearing nail polish, McCain remains unapologetically himself, emphasizing that painting his nails is a form of self-care that he fully embraces.
In a recent promotional campaign with Sally Hansen, McCain shared his perspective on his unique fashion choice, stating, “Just do some self-care time, I think everybody should do some self-care for themselves. For me, it’s nail painting. Sorry if that offends any of you guys.” The talented freshman guard, known for his impressive performance on the basketball court, has been sporting colorful nails as a form of self-expression and team spirit, often incorporating Duke’s signature blue and white colors into his nail art.

While some may find McCain’s nail polish preference unconventional, he remains unfazed by the criticism, emphasizing that there’s no specific reason behind his choice other than personal enjoyment and practicality. In fact, McCain revealed that painting his nails has helped him break the habit of nail-biting and has become a positive ritual that he continues to uphold, even after successful basketball games.
Despite the occasional backlash faced by McCain and other athletes like Heisman winner Caleb Williams for their nail polish choices, McCain remains steadfast in his commitment to self-expression and self-care.
Now, keep in mind, he’s not the only male star who’s been painting his nails. Lil Uzi, Machine Gun Kelly, Chris Brown and more have also been dibbling and babbling in some nail art. Lil Yatchy created a nail polish line will drop its first color collection on May 21.
