A reggae band has filed a copyright infringement suit against Dua Lipa after she reportedly copied their song for the hit ‘Levitating.’

Artikal Sound System’s suit claims Dua Lipa’s hit song, “Levitating”, is a direct rip-off of their song “Live Your Life.” The song was released in 2017 and the suit states Lipa’s team heard their song back in 2020 and blatantly copied its melody while writing the song. The lawsuit also named Warner Records and several others as defendants and is asking for the revenue made from “Levitating” in addition to damages.
“Given the degree of similarity, it is highly unlikely that `Levitating’ was created independently,” the lawsuit states. However, social media has responded to the lawsuit and believes the songs sound similar but there isn’t a case.

Here’s the thing tho, if they wanna win the lawsuit? They’re gonna have to try and prove that apparently Dua Lipa listens to underground unknown reggae pop bands that have had no chart presence or fame like???

I don’t understand why people are bashing the reggae band for suing. Do you realize how many songs are stolen from hole in the wall bands who get no credit or money? How is that fair? Meanwhile Dua Lipa & suits get rich. The song is clearly a carbon copy.
