The Cherokee collided into the back of a Kia Sorrento that was stopped for a red light at the Riverside Avenue intersection. That set off a chain reaction of collisions at the intersection, with eight vehicles in total receiving damages from the incident.
A woman and her daughter were trapped inside the car while it was burning into flames. Witnesses attempted to help out but were not able to get past the flames. The driver of the Cherokee was not able to survive the terrifying crash that took place.
Police then announced later that night, a man approached the Rialto police station looking for his wife and daughter. They had been visiting family in the area and he hadn’t heard from them. When he said they were in a Kia Sorrento, detectives had put two and two together and had to deliver the husband some tragic news.
