Fox 32 Chicago reports the company will be changing the name of the chocolate-covered ice cream bat, almost a hundred years after it was first introduced to the public. Dreyer’s said in a statement that they will be committed to being a part of finding a solution for racial equality. The term “Eskimo” is known as an offensive word for the Inuit people.
“We are committed to being a part of the solution on racial equality, and recognize the term is derogatory. This move is part of a larger review to ensure our company and brands reflect our people’s values.”
