Media Day took a serious turn for Draymond Green on Monday when he went back and forth with a reporter for almost two minutes.

As the Golden State star prepared to answer questions during the team’s media day, a journalist ststed, “People are concerned about you.” This comment clearly struck a nerve with Green, as seen in the footage, prompting an immediate and intense reaction from him.

“Why are they worried about me?” Green questioned. “I’m a successful Black man in America doing incredibly well,” he said. “What’s to worry about me? There are way more people in this world to worry about than me. That’s for sure.”

The reporter seemed to be alluding to how Green planned to maintain his presence on the court this season, especially considering the 34-year-old’s history of missing several games in recent years due to injuries and suspensions.

However, it was clear that Green was not receptive to the reporter’s initial question right from the start. He also stated,  “If you would’ve told me when I was 13 years old in Saginaw, Michigan without a pot to piss in that you’d be sitting here and somebody would say they’re worried about you, I would have probably told them they were out of their mind if I’d be sitting here and they’d be worried about me.”

The reporter worked hard to make his point, but after about two minutes, Green interrupted him, reminding the journalist of all the games he has helped the Warriors win, and then ended the conversation.

“It’s all about how you spin it,” he said. “I love how you’re trying to spin it — but it ain’t my spin to it, player.”
