Drakeo the Ruler’s Family Files $20M Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against LA Music Festival
Earlier today, Drakeo the Ruler‘s family announced their forthcoming $20 million wrongful death lawsuit against the organizers of the LA music festival the rapper was fatally stabbed at.
As we previously reported, Drakeo, who was 28 and born Darrell Caldwell, was killed in December after a backstage attack during the ‘Once Upon a Time in LA’ music festival, held at the Banc of California Stadium. Now, the rapper’s family — primarily, the mother of the rapper’s only child — is suing the promoters of the concert for failure to provide proper security.
An attorney for the family, James Bryant, says “Mr. Caldwell was essentially lynched by over 40 to 60 people, and as you also saw, Mr. Caldwell had no security. That video ran for a full minute and you didn’t see one security officer there. The video you saw was one of the last few moments of Darrell Caldwell’s life.” After the attack, Drakeo was rushed to the hospital with stab wounds to the neck. He later died of his injuries and his killers still remain at large.
