Donald Trump‘s FBI Director Kash Patel has reportedly terminated an FBI agent trainee for displaying an LGBTQ+ Pride flag on their desk last year under the Joe Biden Administration.
According to ABC News, they obtained a copy of a letter from Director Patel and also spoke with several sources familiar with the situation. The outlet reported that the Patel “summarily dismissed” a new agent trainee at the FBI academy in Quantico, Virginia. The trainee had reportedly displayed a pride flag at his previous work area.
Before their reported firing, the trainee worked at the FBI’s Los Angeles field office for more than a decade in a non-agent capacity. However, they were recently sent into training to become an agent.

In the alleged letter reviewed by ABC News, Patel reportedly wrote:
“This document provides official notice that you are being summarily dismissed from your position as a New Agent Trainee at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and removed from the federal service, under my authority as the FBI Director, effective immediately.
After reviewing the facts and circumstances and considering your probationary status, I have determined you exercised poor judgment with an inappropriate display of political signage in your work area during your previous assignment at the Los Angeles Field Office.
Pursuant to Article II of the United States Constitution and the laws of the United States, your employment with the Federal Bureau of Investigation is hereby terminated.”

FBI Director Kash Patel Fires At Least 15 Agents Pictured Kneeling During 2020 George Floyd Protests
The news arrives a week after reports of the FBI director firing 15-20 agents who kneeled during a 2020 civil rights-related protest in Washington, D.C. following George Floyd’s death.
Both AP and CNN reported that at least three people close to the situation confirmed the report on September 26. Sources, who demanded to remain anonymous, alleged the Federal Bureau of Investigation reassigned the agents last Spring, but had since fired them.
Furthermore, the FBI Agents Association told CNN that 15 agents were terminated as they criticized FBI Director Kash Patel’s leadership. They claimed the firings “violate the due process rights” of the agents, fully explaining:
“As Director Patel has repeatedly stated, nobody is above the law. But rather than providing these agents with fair treatment and due process, Patel chose to again violate the law by ignoring these agents’ constitutional and legal rights instead of following the requisite process.
Patel’s dangerous new pattern of actions are weakening the Bureau because they eliminate valuable expertise and damage trust between leadership and the workforce, and make it harder to recruit and retain skilled agents — ultimately putting our nation at greater risk.”
